Pawn shops are notoriously terrible at accurately assessing pokemon card price. They operate on quick turnover, meaning you can legally walk in with a $500 card and negotiate a buying pokemon card price of $100. Legally, flipping these pawn shop finds on eBay is a highly profitable business model. Illegally, some thieves use pawn shops to fence stolen Pokemon card collections. Because pawn shops don’t check PSA serial numbers against stolen databases as thoroughly as they should, this illegal fencing severely impacts the pokemon card price market.
